Instituto Federal Catarinense [IFC] is a member institution of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Tecnological Education, created by the Federal Law 11.892, on December 29th, 2008, from the integration of the federal agrotechnical schools in Concórdia, Rio do Sul and Sombrio as well as of the federal agricultural schools in Araquari and Camboriú, which once held ties to the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. IFC can be characterized as a multicampi institution that offers professional education articulated with basic and higher education.
IFC is located in the State of Santa Catarina and is present in fifteen localities: Abelardo Luz, Araquari, Blumenau, Brusque, Camboriu, Concordia, Fraiburgo, Ibirama, Luzerna, Rio do Sul, Santa Rosa do Sul, São Bento do Sul, São Francisco do Sul, Videira dingy and Vine, besides of the Rectory installed in the city of Blumenau.

It is a prerequisite for admission to the Technical Course in Agriculture Integrated to High School, the conclusion of elementary school, or equivalent, in any institution recognized by the Ministry of Education.

The area of professional work for Zootechnicians is wide and diversified. The qualified professional is able to plan, analyse, execute, manage and monitor the production systems, processing and commercialization of agricultural products. Presentation
Youth and Adult Education Course articulated with technical training/professional qualification in Family Agriculture (EJA – EPT) – Middle and Elementary Level – Offered in partnership with the Municipalities of Praia Grande and São João do Sul
Students Profile: Workers of small and medium-sized family farms. Students will be trained to, propose solutions to real (specific) problems faced by family farming. It values the territorial dimension, considering the integrated actions of the productive system. Plans, organizes and develops actions in a cooperative and associative way. It correlates and understands production systems with the ecosystem and territorial governance, promoting sustainability and multifunctionality. It adopts an ethical attitude at work and in social life, understanding the processes of human socialization at a collective level in a context of inclusion and diversity.

It is the most industrially important city in the state, with hundreds of chemical-based companies that require a large contingent of professionals in the area. In this context, IFC Araquari offers the Technical Course in Chemistry Integrated to High School (QUIMI), being the most recent course of this modality implemented on campus, with the first group having entered at the beginning of 2014 and completed the course at the end of year 2017. The PPGTA is a comprehensive course and is concerned with the construction, optimization and use of methods and techniques that are applied to local and regional reality. The techniques to be optimized, developed and applied permeate chemical, biological, physical, agricultural and aquaculture engineering processes, agriculture in general, aiming at producing food in a more sustainable way, conservation and proper use of natural resources, treatment and recycling of waste, as well as adding value to different by-products of the production stages. Both lines of research converge towards the conservation, protection and responsible use of nature and its resources.
